LAPADA, The Association of Art & Antiques Dealers, is returning to The Game Fair this summer and plans to debut at The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) Welsh Game Fair in the autumn.

John Dixon of Scotland’s Georgian Antiques has become the new vice chairman of dealer association LAPADA.

Previously held in a purpose-built marquee in Berkeley Square every autumn, the trade association’s showpiece fair has not taken place since 2019 because of coronavirus restrictions.

More than 20 LAPADA dealers have signed up to take stands at The Game Fair this summer.

When Freya Simms presented at a European art market conference in late January, forecasting what dealers should expect in 2021, the LAPADA chief executive illustrated her slides with an image of someone dragging a ball of red tape up the hill.

MADAM – At the risk of boring your readers with yet another letter from me, I would like to endorse Kay Michie’s very sensible suggestion that one organisation representing the antiques trade would be better than two (Letters, ATG No 2479).

MADAM – It will come as no surprise that I, for one, wholeheartedly support the proposal from Kaye Michie (see Letters & Opinion, ATG No 2479) that the two antiques dealer associations, BADA and LAPADA, should be merged.

A merger of the two major antiques trade associations, The British Antique Dealers’ Association (BADA) and LAPADA, is again up for discussion.

MADAM – I would like to open up the discussion on merging the two major antique trade associations BADA and LAPADA.
