Dealer Ismael Khan of Ishy Antiques and jeweller Gaetano Chiavetta have opened a new office near London’s Hatton Garden.

Joe Trinder is leaving Wotton Auction Rooms, were he is auctioneer, valuer and cataloguer, to join start-up saleroom Dawson’s.

As part of Alfies Antique Market’s week-long 40th anniversary celebrations, the Antiques Young Guns will provide a pop-up shop for their members at the centre.

Bedfordshire-based dealer James Gooch of Doe and Hope has been crowned the second Antiques Young Gun of the Year.

The shortlist for this year’s Antiques Young Gun of the Year has been unveiled. The winner will be revealed at the awards party on July 4, hosted by Bennie Gray at Alfies Antiques in London. Founded last year by Gail McLeod, George Johnson and Mark Hill, the award is open to anyone working in the business aged 39 or under.

The Antiques Young Guns team have announced a new addition to the 2014 Antiques Young Gun of the Year awards: the Judith Miller Award for Outstanding Potential.

The second Antiques Young Gun of the Year award ceremony will take place in July at a new venue: Alfies Antiques Market in London’s Marylebone, hosted by owner Bennie Gray.

Some of the group of youthful dealers who make up ‘Young Guns of the Antiques Trade’ have clubbed together to exhibit in their own pavilion at the ‘Antiques for Everyone’ fair next at the NEC, Birmingham from October 31 to November 3.

Since the announcement that the Young Guns of the antiques trade will be the focus of this year’s ‘National Antiques Week’ from April 20-28, many of the over 40s in the trade have been asking where this leaves them.
