To one side is a portrait bust, to the other a ship, plough and shuttle. This preliminary strike, the unfinished pattern, is probably unique.
It seems that the die had already started to break and so the issue never happened.
One of the many highlights of the Patrick Deane collection of tokens sold by Baldwin’s in two tranches in 2023, it took £4000 (plus 20% buyer’s premium) on May 25.
