The society’s new boss is Dickon Weir-Hughes whose background is in healthcare and who is a permanent resident of France. Weir-Hughes is a regular contributor to the society’s quarterly magazine The Ephemerist where he writes articles on collecting airline ephemera.
Dealer Jackson-Harris, who remembers visiting auctions with her antiques dealer father when ephemera was considered to have no value, joined the society in 1976, just a year after it was founded by seven enthusiastic ephemera collectors including her late husband Peter Jackson.
The first ‘ephemera bazaar’, a fair held in a church hall in London, took place in London in 1976 and is now an established presence on the London fairs’ scene running every spring and winter at the Holiday Inn in Coram Street in Bloomsbury. The next is on Sunday December 3 where prices range from £2-2000.
