Much was made of the reduced environmental impact as before ‘a printed catalogue would arrive on the back of a diesel lorry from mid-Wales before being posted’.

While it might considerably reduce costs for the auctioneer, I doubt this will be such welcome news for the postal service, the print workers in Wales – or their delivery driver.

Never mind, I’m sure the latter will find replacement employment with one of the courier firms who will be making many trips to the auctioneer to collect sold lots following the sale, so does such a policy actually reduce environmental impact?

There are winners and losers in result of this pandemic and inevitable changes to working practices, but this will definitely not be of net benefit to all, or necessarily the environment.
