JM tells us that this is a personal selection of the cities, areas, museums and shops in which she has enjoyed sniffing out antiques after 30 years of hunting. The publishing style has places to see, a spot of history, where to eat and where to stay, and for shopping, a list of specialist antiques’ shops and a few auction houses.

It works through selected towns in GB and Ireland to France, Belgium and the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Spain & Portgual, Italy, and Istanbul. This book will probably do well as it resembles the successful city shopping travel features run by the nationals. This is a publishing departure for JM and her enthusiasm shows.

Incidentally, a recent snippet in The Bookseller mentioned that Judith Miller is thought to be among authors considering possible future publishing deals with Dorling Kindersley. Her current publishers, Marshall Editions, are a division of the entertainment giant, Just Group PLC, bringers to our TV screens of the Butt-Ugly Martians and Pinky and Perky, the Singing Pigs.
