Word has got round and the latter market has increased the number of traders from 35 to 45 spread out over three locations for the next one, running on Saturday, November 11.

The village is just eight miles from Guildford where ACVR also holds a market and Edwards has noticed a flow of people who attend both.

The marketing and tourism strategy of these selling events is key. Take Romsey, a prosperous town in Hampshire where the 10-year old market is biannual and now has 65 traders across five locations in the town.

Edwards said: “Marshals encourage the public to go round the circular route that takes in the abbey. At last month’s Sunday market there were an estimated 2500 people in the town when there’s usually only 600-700 visitors.”
