The single-owner collection is comprised of creamers acquired over the course of several decades at auctions, fairs and dealerships across the world, many of them based in the US.

“I have sold silver cow creamers in the past, but most collectors only manage to find one or two,” says Littler, an independent valuer and consultant who is selling the group on behalf of a client.

The creamers are offered together at an asking price of £85,000.

“The scope is really all-encompassing, featuring every known style of creamer, and features some real rarities including bull creamers and even a creamer in the form of a goat,” Littler adds.

The history of cow creamers date back to the 1750s when John Schuppe started producing them to be used for adding cream to tea. Though he was the first to produce silver creamers, earlier versions can be found dating as far back as the 4th century BC when the Egyptians produced potter jugs in cow form.
