At the Hôtel Dassault, Artcurial (26/20/14.5% buyer’s premium) held a sale of Old Master and 19th century paintings, drawings and sculpture that raised a premium inclusive total of €4.5m for just over 200 lots.

The works on paper element of this sale included four red chalk drawings of Roman views, early works by the French artist Hubert Robert (1733-1808) dating from c.1758-61, that had been in the same family since the early 19th century.

Three of the four found buyers led by this 20 x 16¼in (51 x 41cm) view of the façade of the Villa Medici in Rome. Estimated at €50,000-70,000, it sold for €100,000 (£88,495) to an American collector.
