1. Although not catalogued as such, this 10 x 15in (25 x 38cm) oil on board landscape by the Italian painter Ulvi Liegi (1858-1939) probably depicts a scene in Tuscany, perhaps near Livorno on the west coast where he painted many of his subjects. It tipped over top estimate at Burstow & Hewett in Battle on January 22.
2. This 19½in x 2ft (50 x 61cm) oil on canvas by the Newlyn School painter Marjorie ‘Midge’ Bruford (1902-58) depicts the Cornish village of St Bruyan. Exhibited at Royal West of England Academy in Bristol, it was entered with a modest £200-300 estimate at David Lay of Penzance on January 30.
3. This scene of St Moritz was painted by Edouard von Handel-Mazzetti (1885- 1950), an Austrian-born artist whose paintings of the Alps are not widely known outside his home country. Signed and dated 1932, the 71 x 84cm (2ft 4in x 2ft 9in) oil on canvas sold at Edinburgh saleroom Lyon & Turnbull on February 5.
