The show runs from February 14-March 1 at the St James’s gallery, which exclusively represents his estate, and brings together a collection of 30 paintings from across the self-taught artist’s career.

Pictures such as Misty Landscape reflect Hanley’s interest in the Royston (Hertfordshire) countryside in his typical palette of soft pastels. Other works demonstrate his interest in music, abstraction and the works of artists such as Ben Nicholson and Victor Pasmore.
