The latest result of £1020 hammer against an estimate of £500-600 came in the timed online sale at Phillips' Comic Book Auctions (19% buyer’s premium inc VAT) that ended on February 25, for a run of three consecutive artworks from Battle Action 279 which also included the front cover printer’s paste-up of the comic.

Eagle/Dan Dare artwork, £1700 at Comic Book Auctions.

Another regular popular choice at CBA is original artwork by Frank Bellamy. Selling within estimate at £1700 was Dan Dare cover artwork (1959) painted and signed by Bellamy for The Eagle Vol 10, No 36, showing Dare desperately taking on the ‘Nagrebs’, giant, man-eating ants.

Fifty Toppers

The key lot from The Woodard Archive of British Comics was a bound volume of the first 50 Toppercomics introducing Mickey the Monkey and Beryl the Peril with Treasure Islandand Kidnapped back page adventure strips by Dudley Watkins. The winning bid was £1420 (estimate £800-1200).
