The booklet is by trading card collector and historian Dr Cyril Mazansky and the Journal of the Cartophilic Society of Great Britain.
Editor Nick Oldham said: “Before TV and radio, many people’s only way of following special events was by collecting ‘cigarette’ cards of the occasion.”
Mazansky, a retired radiologist in the US, is a historian and author with a focus on UK history. His collection of British swords was donated to Brown University and his ongoing collection of trading cards will be donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
