Blue and white drug jar was made in Edo period Japan, c.1650, for the Western market, estimate £5000-8000 at Woolley & Wallis.
Similar to pharmaceutical delftwares, it is painted in underglaze blue with a blank cartouche framed by formal scrolling designs. A rare survivor, it has a guide of £5000-8000 at Woolley & Wallis in Salisbury.
