The 19¾ x 14¾in (50 x 37.5cm) work, executed in black and red chalk with white highlights on blue paper and signed left and right, depicts an allegory of the peace treaty between Louis XIV, the Germans and the Dutch.

De la Fosse was an important artist in terms of decorative schemes at the time, having participated in the decoration of the ceiling of the Salon d’Apollon at Versailles.
