It is one of two works by the artist to feature in a sale to be held by Gros & Delettrez at Drouot on June 20. (The other, a view of the beach at Deauville guided at €400,000-600,000, was previewed in ATG No 2594).
The portrait shown here, which is estimated at €60,000-90,000, is an oil on canvas from 1908 measuring 14 x 10½in (35 x 27cm).
It is signed lower right and inscribed on the reverse Guguse 18 avril 1908. It featured in the first American retrospective on the artist held in 1971 at the Museum of Art at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
