Some of them were offered individually, others in multiple lots of varying, and sometimes considerable size. One or two of the higher valued lots did not find buyers, but topping the lists at £7500 was a copy of the very first issue of The Incredible Hulk.

An English issue, like many of the comics on offer, it appeared in May 1962.

Estimated at £600-1000 but sold at £2500 was a copy of Issue No 11 of Detective Comics issued in January 1938 by National Periodical Publications/DC Comics.

Among a number of copies of Fantastic Four on offer, three raised four-figure bids.

The first UK issue of 1961 that sold at £4600 is a comic that has featured more than once on these pages, and quite recently too. Issue No 5 sold at £1450 and a copy of No 4 realised £1300.

Dating from April 1964, two copies of the very first UK issue of Daredevil, the ‘Man without Fear’, were sold at £1500 and £750.

A 1966 US issue of The Silver Surfer whose board is overstamped 2/-, sold in Newcastle for £440 and a 72pp special ‘King Size’ annual outing for The Mighty Thor that in 1965 was over stamped 1/6d for English readers sold at £400.
