A three-day standfitted and vetted fair is planned in the Midlands this December by a Kent-based ceramics dealer.

John Andrews, who has been in the trade for 40 years, is organising the event at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre (NAEC) at Stoneleigh Park near Warwick – a venue familiar to long-standing art and antiques fair visitors.

He said: “This is an excellent location, close to Birmingham and a motorway network including the M40 and there are no other antiques fairs taking place in the Midlands at this time.

“The fair will be managed by a professional events company, InLoco Events, who will handle bookings for the fair held in Exhibition Hall 1 at the NAEC which can accommodate approximately 120 dealers.”

It runs from Friday to Sunday, December 8-10, under the banner Classic Antique Fairs. Stands are available at £125 per metre with a four-by two-metre stand with two spots and a power point costing £1000.

Three events planned

Among the dealers who have already signed up are David Hickmet of Hickmet Fine Arts, London, Solo Antiques with art glass and bronzes, based in Lancashire, Jeroen Markies from Kent with Art Deco and Julien Eade Ceramics, up from Surrey.

As Scottow Antiques, Andrews deals in English and Continental porcelain and is a regular exhibitor at fairs including Olympia and Continuity Fairs’ events at Builth Wells, Stafford and Exeter.

Three fairs are planned next year at the NAEC and he added: “Not everyone buys online and we need regional fairs.”

Venue with a history

In an earlier life as DMG, IACF launched an antiques fair at Stoneleigh Park in 1993 which ran four times annually for seven years until 2000.

IACF then returned to this venue in 2013 and organised a one-day, midweek, trade-focused antiques and collectors’ fair until 2014.

In 2017 AS Fairs launched Swallow at Stoneleigh, an indoor antiques market in the Blackdown Building.

This was held in the winter months to complement its indoor/outdoor market at Donnington Park near Derby which took place in the summer months. Neither of these events currently feature in AS Fairs’ portfolio of fairs.
