Visitors at a previous Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair.
The ethnographic culture and tribal art event has agreed to lease the mezzanine of Evolution London in Battersea Park when The Decorative fair returns on October 3-8.
It is the second fair to join forces with the Battersea event: the LARTA (London Antique Rug & Textile Art) Fair takes over the mezzanine level for the winter edition of The Decorative fair.
Since 2014, TAL was held at Mall Galleries, with around 20 participants (having grown from a group gallery show in 2007).
During Covid restrictions it ran as an online fair (2020-21) and returned as an in-person event at Mall Galleries last year.

Organiser Victoria Rogers, who took over the reins from founder Bryan Reeves (of Tribal Gathering) in 2020, said the event has always “prided itself on being a close-knit community of dealers and experts, and we know the friendly atmosphere engendered at Battersea by The Decorative fair and its exhibitors will suit us, as well as our clients. We feel sure our relocation there will mark the start of new phase in the development of our fair.”
The event has around 15 exhibitors signed up, with newcomers including Linus Carr and Timothy Prus while Alan Marcuson, Joss Graham and Stothert & Trice are among the returning dealers.
Owen Hargreaves and Jasmine Dahl as Tribalspace are returning after a number of years away.
Rogers added: “With a reduction in the number of events, it is important that we try to keep what we do going. We have plans to expand into Asian art and in 2024 we hope to have more international dealers taking part.”
Darren Hudson, organiser of The Decorative fair, said: “Tribal Art London will be an exciting new addition to our fair and Battersea venue. While TAL has its own dedicated clientele of international collectors, tribal art has for many years also been admired and appreciated by the interior design community. We will enjoy the synergy between our two events.”
This year marks the 16th edition of TAL, and the 38th anniversary of The Decorative fair.
