A “fine” 27th Enniskillen (Inniskilling) Regiment officer’s shoulder belt plate, c.1775-1800, soared above a guide of £600-800 to make £9000 at Noonans (24% buyer’s premium) in Mayfair on December 7.
The silvered oval design featured a ornately engraved rim with rayed star, and to the centre a beaded rim with title scroll Enniskillen below a castle with 27 on blue enamel ground. It was in largely good condition.
Helmet plate and badge
Estimated at £100-150, this 19th century helmet plate and badge for the 87th Regiment of Foot, The Prince of Wales’ Own Irish, Royal Irish Fusiliers, sold for £2800 at Henry Aldridge & Son (22/15/10% buyer’s premium) in Devizes, Wiltshire, on December 17.
