LAPADA reveals autumn fair dates
LAPADA, The Association of Art & Antiques Dealers, has announced dates for the return of its autumn fair.
In partnership with The Game Fair owner Stable Events, the LAPADA Art & Antiques Fair will be held at Berkeley Square running from September 26 to October 1.
The event is open to member and non-member exhibitors.
A new layout will be announced in due course alongside further details of the relaunched event.
Hampstead centre thrown a lifeline

An antiques centre in Hampstead forced to close by its landlord has been recognised by Camden Council as an ‘Asset of Community Value’, delaying any potential sale to give community groups a chance to raise funds to buy it.
Traders at Hampstead Antique & Craft Emporium were informed at the end of October by the owner of the building that it would shut on January 7. Around 25 dealers are affected (as reported in ATG No 2569).
Alexandra Porter rallied fellow dealers at the centre and the local community in north London to fight the decision, organising a protest event and launching a petition against the closure.
Following an application led by Porter with support from local politicians Tulip Siddiq MP, Cllr Linda Chung, Cllr Stephen Stark, the Heath & Hampstead Society and the Hampstead Neighbourhood Forum, the council designated the emporium an Asset of Community Value (ACV).
This ensures there is a six-month moratorium period on any future sales so community groups can raise funds to submit a bid to the owner.

Silver and jewellery auctions launched
Among the lots at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood’s first Silver & Jewellery sale is this mid-17th century Belgium cast silver half-length model of an archangel in the manner of Pieter Verbruggen I (1615-86) estimated at £4000-6000.
Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood of Exeter has introduced new silver and jewellery sales due to increasing popularity from buyers and consigners. These departments will now have dedicated sales that will follow BHL’s quarterly fine sale.
The first Silver & Jewellery sale will be on February 7-8.
Addison Pye joins management team
Addison Pye who has been appointed to the board of directors of John Pye & Sons.
John Pye & Sons has added to its senior management team by appointing Addison Pye to the board of directors.
Addison, grandson of founders Ann and John Pye, has been promoted to director from his previous position as a commercial manager.
Starting as a porter, Addison has more than seven years’ experience in the Nottingham-based business. The firm employs more than 700 staff and recently expanded into Europe.
Young gun Kirsty earns promotion

Auction house Golding Young & Mawer has promoted Kirsty Young to the position of director after 10 years at the family firm.
She joined the business, run by her father Colin Young, in 2012 when she passed the NAVA Technical Award in Chattels Auctioneering at 17. In 2014 she was appointed saleroom manager and in 2017 became an associate director.
Kirsty said: “Having been taking auctions since the age of 17, this is now the next move on the career ladder.” Colin, the managing director, added: “I am immensely proud to announce that Kirsty has now been appointed a director, having completed 10 years of having to work harder, longer and faster (admittedly hereditary) to avoidfalse claims of nepotism.”
Based in Lincolnshire with salerooms in Bourne, Grantham and Lincoln and offices in Louth and Stamford, the auction house has 40 staff selling about 60,000 lots a year. The firm announced this month that it will allow the return of in-person bidding to its salerooms for all sales (unless specifically stated online-only).
