Titled on the cover in German, French and English as Comical Metamorphoses, it comprised brightly coloured and sectioned cards featuring heads, torsos and legs, each with a numbered label to reverse, all of which were contained in a varnished wooden box with a pictorial label to its sliding lid.
Said to be in very good condition for its age, the set sold at £900.
It was consigned as part of a single-owner collection, that of CW Briggs (1906-71), which comprised more than 400 lots in this auction. CW Briggs is listed as being an antiques dealer on Leicester Road, Loughborough, from 1948-51.
