Limited edition Abstract lithograph by Pierre Soulages, £22,000 at Charterhouse.
Consigned to Charterhouse (25% buyer’s premium) in Sherborne, as part of a deceased estate from a local property where it had previously hung in pride of place, the 2ft 2in x 19¾in (65 x 50cm) lithograph was one of the artist’s numerous signed Abstract prints – this one from a 1972 signed edition of 30 prints.
Estimated at £6000-8000 at the sale on October 6, it attracted numerous phone and online bidders and ended up selling at £22,000 to a buyer in the south of France.
The funds raised from the sale of this lot will go to charity at the specific bequest of the vendor.
