Sold in 23 lots in all, seven of the very early issues were offered individually with the third, A Guy needs Guts, taking £130 and the fourth, Mercy for None!, making £140.
The collecting appeal of the series launched in 1961 was underlined again at Leeds saleroom Morley (18% buyer’s premium) on July 21.
A single lot comprised issues 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 10 described as in good overall condition.

With the usual stirring titles such as Hellfire Landing, Hun Bait and Walk – or Die! (the very first issue), they pumped up bidders enough to make a £1200 hammer price (no estimate given).
Other lots offered issues 11-20 (no 16 missing), sold at £500, and issues 21-30 (plus two of 34 and one 36) took £700.
Impressive, but certainly not at the level of a large selection of Commando mags sold at Comic Book Auctions in November 2021.
The first 30 issues were offered as separate lots. No 1 took the top result, a hammer price of £980, No 3 £520, and others in the first 10 sold for sums ranging from £95-270.
Rather amazingly, Commando is still being printed by DC Thomson in Fleet Street – see commandocomics.com. The distinctive 7 × 5½in (18 x 14cm) 68-page format has not changed.
