This 6in (15cm) famille rose medallion ‘goat’ bowl is decorated with three oval vignettes each enclosing a goat in a landscape. The interior in underglaze blue depicts a scene of three goats while the yellow ground is sgraffito decorated with foliage. Bronze bust of Stanley Baldwin by the English sculptor Newbury Abbot Trent – estimated at £2000-3000 at Mallams.
Mallams is offering items from the estate of Edward Baldwin, grandson of Stanley Baldwin (1867-1947), the 1st Earl of Bewdley and the three-times British prime minister during the 1920s-30s.
Baldwin was from an extraordinary family which included Rudyard Kipling (his first cousin) as well as the painters and designers Edward Burne-Jones and Edward Poynter (his uncles).
Items from the estate will feature in two upcoming sales in Oxford: the September 21 Library Sale and the October 12 Picture Sale.
Included in the Library Sale is a striking bronze bust of Stanley Baldwin by the English sculptor Newbury Abbot Trent (1885-1953). Signed by the artist and dated 1927, it stands 23in (58cm) high and is estimated at £2000-3000.

The Last Sight of Fiammetta by Marie Stillman – estimated at £70,000-100,000 at Bonhams.
Few people outside the art world are familiar with the name Marie Stillman (British, 1844-1927), yet she was a cherished member of the Pre- Raphaelite circle as friend, model and painter. Only a handful of Stillman’s works are known.
However, after more than half a century in the same private collection, The Last Sight of Fiammetta has now emerged to the market. Painted in 1876, it will be offered in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art sale in London on September 21 estimated at £70,000-100,000.
The painting depicts the central character in Giovanni Boccaccio’s mid- 14th century romantic novel Elegia di Madonna Fiammetta. It was inspired by a sonnet, also entitled The Last Sight of Fiammetta, translated from Boccaccio by Stillman’s friend Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
The sitter is almost certainly Stillman’s stepdaughter, Lisa, who would have been around 13 at the time. The work was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1876 and at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1878 – the year Rossetti decided to create his own version, using Stillman as his model.

This cast iron cannon barrel measuring around 8ft long is understood to have been dredged up from the Orwell estuary.
It is thought to be a relic from the Battle of Landguard Fort on July 2, 1667 during the Anglo- Dutch wars– considered the last seaborne invasion of England. At Clarke & Simpson in Suffolk on September 17, it is expected to bring £500-800.
