Roger who operated La Chaise Antique specialising in upholstery and leatherwork, was known to dealers and the fair circuit over many years.

He was definitely a ‘Marmite’ character, but whatever you think, he was gregarious, stylish, a larger than life character, unbelievably entertaining socially, and I am sure he wouldn’t object to be described as a compulsive womaniser!

His love of the finer things in life involved Porsches, London clubs, skiing at Cloisters and his stylish girlfriends.

‘Roger the Dodger’ was the ultimate dealer/hustler who never gave up on a deal until he had the better end of it - one of the best salesmen this job has ever seen.

He ran La Chaise Antique from Faringdon, Oxfordshire, for many years before moving to Stow-onthe- Wold for the last 20 years where he retained a small shop and bolt hole.

He had spent recent years at his second home in Mallorca, which he considered home for the latter years of his life.

He will be sadly missed.
