I would just like to mention that although Mary Webster did not know of the picture and assumed it was missing, I identified the subject of the painting when I saw it some 10 years ago in a private collection, and published it in the catalogue of the Zoffany exhibition held at the Royal Academy in 2012 (pp 44-45, fig 38) - as noted in the Duke’s sale catalogue.
