IACF Shepton Mallet is in vogue… and also in Vogue US magazine.
The fair will feature in November’s issue after the high fashion/lifestyle magazine had a photoshoot with renowned photojournalist Martin Parr during the three-day antiques and collectors’ fair at the Bath & West Showground in September.
Parr, who is also a collector of pop culture photographs and postcards, said: “We decided to come to the Shepton Mallet fair as we knew there were lots of stands but were overwhelmed by how many stallholders there actually are.
“This gave us the opportunity to select the props we wanted to use with our accessories to make some really interesting pictures.”
Next staging
West Country Art Deco dealer Ron Darnell is bringing this striking British butterscotch phenolic and chrome table lamp and star shade, priced at £350, to IACF Shepton Mallet in November.
The organisers’ next outing at the showground is on Friday to Sunday, November 11-13, with a regular 600-dealer count including local exhibitors from the south-west plus standholders such as art dealer Richard Laker from YouNeedArt, based in London and the Home Counties, who stood at the fair for the first time in September.
He said: “I absolutely loved it. You see the type of people who seriously come in to buy a lot. It was a lot of fun.”
Antique and vintage textiles are always a hit at this fair and dealers in November include Liz van Hasselt, Frock & Fripperies and Linda Campbell Down. Van Hasselt said: “We’ve been trading at this fair for many years and always have a good selection of textiles, trimmings and other treasures from France.”
