The organiser of a monthly Sunday antiques fair held for the past 30 years in central London reports that not only are his fairs back to prepandemic levels but doing better than ever before.

Attendance has more than doubled from an average of 600-700 to around 1500 visitors per event, says Matthew Adams of Adams Antiques Fairs.

He adds: “Visitors are much younger than we saw before lockdown and are new to antiques. They buy across the board, from jewellery to silver to decorative antiques and textiles. Social media plays an important part in raising awareness of the fairs.

“A ‘reel’ posted on Instagram just when we opened up before our November fair had been viewed more than 10,000 times before the end of the fair.”

The next Adams fair takes place on Sunday, December 4, at the ‘Horti’, the Royal Horticultural Halls, with 135 stands.
