Shown above is the sale’s top lot, a 2008 ‘Centenary’ edition of Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows issued by the Folio Society in 2008.

One of a thousand copies, illustrated by Charles van Sandwyk and containing a signed copperplate etching of one of his illustrations, this fine example was what the saleroom took to be an unread copy in its original clam-shell box. It sold to an internet bidder for £800.

Those Folio Society lots also included, at £680, one of 1750 copies of a 2009 edition of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick… with illustrations by Rockwell Kent, and one of 500 copies of a 2017 edition of The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.

Containing a signed etching by the illustrator, Roman Pisareo, the latter made £680 online.
