The Birmingham Clock and Watch Fair was established in the 1980s and has been organised by Sarah Roberts since 2019. It is the largest clock and watch fair in the UK and is held six times a year at the Motorcyle Museum in Birmingham, with the next on Sunday, November 13.
Roberts said: “This is quite a hard market to be in but we have around 100 dealers at each fair and are now seeing buyers from Austria, Japan, Canada and Spain.
“We sell antique clocks with vintage and modern watches being very popular these last few years.
“Birmingham City University runs a clockmaking course and we see plenty of students from the university buying spare parts.”
The British Horological Institute has enthusiastic supporters around the UK and West Country Clock & Watch Fairs run by the Bristol branch is one of the events staged.
Organised biannually by watch repairer Owen Gilchrist, with the next on Sunday, November 20, the fair fields up to 45 stallholders who will be setting their timepieces for the 7am start.
Gilchrist said: “We sell antique clocks, watches, books and other horological items including spare parts which are very popular with steampunk buyers. Next year I’m planning to add jewellery to the mix at the fairs.”
