Florida antiques business Antigo Trunk divides some of its offerings into ‘seasonal’ categories, with this butter dish falling under the autumn section. The Imperial dish is in marigold carnival, one of the distinctive iridescent colours launched by the Ohio glass company.
According to the site, this colour glass (then known as ‘Ruby Gold’) was initially issued between 1927-31 and revived in the 1960s, when this pattern – Carnival Grape Marigold #276 – dates to. It is stamped with the IG logo, differentiating it from the classic carnival line.
