Guynemer’s squadron, Escadrille N.3, employed a similar stork motif as the squadron badge during the First World War. In c.1920 it was adapted by the Hispano Suiza company in the shape of La Cigogne Volante, by Francois Bazin, in chrome plated bronze, signed F. Bazin, on a granite base, (20cm) high.

This example sold at auction house Anderson & Garland (22% buyer’s premium) within estimate at £500 on March 9-10.
