Described by Antikbar (20% buyer’s premium), as in “good condition, creasing, pinholes, fold”, the 10 x 12½in (25.5 x 32cm) poster from 1935 sold for £1100 in Chelsea on March 19 against an estimate of £300-600.
Perry designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport between 1928-37. She studied at the London School of Arts and Crafts and specialised in wood carving, though she became a designer of posters, pub signs and playing cards.
The first Motor Show was staged at Olympia in 1905 but in 1936 the venue lost out to the new Earls Court.
