With the rostrum decked out in bunting even Queen Elizabeth II herself turned up to support the event. Or was it just a cardboard cut-out of everyone’s favourite royal?
We may never know. When the auction was paused for lunch and Whitton headed off he left the queen front and centre on the rostrum and kept the web camera running, which might have caused some confusion for anyone joining the live stream at that moment.
Her Majesty can clearly cut the mustard as an auction operator. It’s never too late to embark on a new career…
