It commemorates the death of Eleanor Lowes (nee Graham) of Ridley Hall and it is believed to be through the Bowes-Lyon line of her family that this ring reached Her Royal Highness.
It formed part of the princess’ varied jewellery collection sold by Christie’s in 2006 and comes with a Certificate of Provenance from Kensington Palace.
As well as the inscription reading E.Lowes ob:5 May 1760 aet 70, it is engraved with the monogram M, surmounted by Margaret’s coronet.
The ring comes for sale at London jewellery auction house Elmwood’s on June 9 with a guide of £10,000-15,000.
