House and Son of Bournemouth will be selling a Louis Vuitton trunk on July 26.

Discovered in the attic of a Dorset property, the trunk had been there for the past 30 years since being given to the owner by a neighbour who no longer wanted it. It retains inner trays and straps and is numbered 180091 on the label on the inside of the lid.

Estimate £4000-6000.

A 19th century bottle of sherry found in the cellar of London’s Apsley House, former home of the 1st Duke of Wellington – estimate £300-700 at Dreweatts.

A 19th century bottle of sherry found in the cellar of London’s Apsley House, former home of the 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), has re-emerged from a private collection. It will be offered in an auction of Fine and Rare Wine and Spirits at Dreweatts of Newbury on July 21.

This sherry, estimated at £300-700, is believed to have been bottled at Apsley House between 1850-70. It was purchased in 1977 at a Christie’s sale of wines from Apsley House and has been stored in a Hampshire cellar ever since.

Edward Bawden, Smithfield Meat Market, signed, titled and numbered in pencil 58/75 – estimate £1000-1500 at Wotton Auction Rooms.

Wotton Auction Rooms will sell the 20th century art collection of the late Arnold Root in Bath on July 22.

Root, the recipient of a Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings scholarship, was steadfastly committed to the philosophy of rescuing and repairing British buildings. He worked at English Heritage for 22 years, later running a small architectural practice, working on repair and alteration projects to historic buildings.

Eleven works by Edward Bawden (1903-89) include Smithfield Meat Market, signed, titled and numbered in pencil 58/75, estimated at £1000-1500.

Earthenware plate covered in white glaze with cobalt painted nude figures of a mother and child, by post-modern potter Philip Eglin – estimate £700-1000 at Adam Partridge.

Adam Partridge in Macclesfield sells the studio ceramics collection of the late Jack Blackburn on July 29. Blackburn was the co-founder of Youlgreave’s – and Britain’s only – gallery specialising in French contemporary ceramics, Pots from France.

Twice a year, he would drive to France’s pottery-making areas returning laden with 300 pots made by up to 20 potters. He was also a collector of British pots.

Estimated at £700-1000 is this large earthenware plate covered in white glaze with cobalt painted nude figures of a mother and child, by post-modern potter Philip Eglin (b.1959). It has an impressed mark dated 2007.

HMS Britannia, also known as Old Ironsides, saw service during the War of American Independence, the Battle of Cape St Vincent and at the Battle of Trafalgar, where she carried the flag of Rear-Admiral of the White William Carnegie, Earl of Northesk.

HMS Royal Sovereign also fought at Trafalgar where she served as the flagship of Admiral Collingwood.

The paintings, in maple frames, date from the 1820s. Estimate £1000-1500.
