This original lithograph by Thomas Shotter Boys (1803-74) of St Dunstan’s, etc. Fleet Street was published in 1842.

It was produced as part of a set of lithographs titled Original Views of London As It Is.

Boys was born in Pentonville, apprenticed under engraver George Cooke and went on to travel in Europe. His most important work, Picturesque Architecture in Paris, Ghent, Antwerp, Rouen, etc., drawn by him and printed by Joseph Hullmandel, was published in 1839.

Original Views of London… was drawn and lithographed by Boys. The scene in question is hand coloured and offered for £650.

It is available at antique maps and prints dealership Storey’s, which launched its new website during the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic in January last year.
