This parcel gilt musical box pictured top, decorated with a frieze of figures, is by Stuart Devlin (London 1975).
It was a special commission from Devlin, made for the family of the vendor who sold it at George Kidner in Lymington in 2005. It comes for sale at the Woolley & Wallis Silver & Objects of Vertu auction in Salisbury on January 25-26 with a guide of £3000-4000.
As the box (with a glass covered Swiss musical movement, marked Reuge, Sainte-Croix) is cased in Brazilian rosewood, the piece is sold with a Cites Article 10 certificate.

A note with the lot reads Locket made of gold from the Duke of Sutherland’s Mine at Kildonan (near Dunrobin) Sutherlandshire. Given to Louisa Blanche Howard (Mrs Cecil Foljambe) July 1869 by Charlotte Duchess of Norfolk who was daughter of the 1st Duke of Sutherland and Elizabeth Countess of Sutherland.
The Kildonan Gold Rush was a short-lived affair from 1869-70 which was ended by the Duke of Sutherland owing to a clash of interests with deer stalking.

This 3ft 3in x 2ft 1in (1m x 64cm) lithographic poster c.1930 is by French illustrator Roger Broders (1883-1953) who made his name designing Art Deco travel posters for the Paris Lyon Mediteranée (PLM) railway,

This fine example of Vienna Secession furniture was bought last year in a junk shop on the south coast for just £5. The elm and wicker highback chair designed by Koloman Moser (1868-1918) in 1902 is expected to bring £2000-3000 in the January 25-26 Design auction at Sworders.
The chair, authenticated by Dr Christian Witt-Dorring, a specialist on the Vienna Secession and curator of many exhibitions, was one of a series of new designs created by Moser for the wickerwork factory of Prag-Rudniker.
Published in 1903 in the magazine Das Interieur, the following year an article devoted to modern Austrian wicker furniture appeared in the influential UK publication The Studio.

The tankard is inscribed To Tom Sayers from a few admirers of English pluck, Montreal June 1860.
Born in Brighton in 1826, Sayers – though only 5ft 8in tall and never weighing much more than 150lbs – frequently fought much bigger men, and won. In a career which lasted from 1849-60, he lost only one of 16 bouts. He was recognised as heavyweight champion of England from 1857 until his retirement.
It is part of a collection of memorabilia relating to Johnny Douglas (1882-1930). The sellers are granddaughters of Douglas’ brother, Cecil ‘Pickles’ Douglas, a Victorian boxing referee. As well as being a talented cricketer, Johnny Douglas won a gold medal for boxing at the London Olympic Games in 1908.

This 7in (17.5cm) high Egyptian wood headrest probably dates from the 6th Dynasty period (2360-2195BC). Carved in three sections, the curved pillow is supported by a pair of slender hands carved in shallow relief. A number of similar examples are known, with another sold at Sotheby’s in July 2018.

The oak and vernacular furniture and works of art sale at Bishop & Miller in Stowmarket on January 27 includes, estimated at £2000-3000, this oak and polychrome ceiling boss.
Dating to c.1400, it is carved with an Old Testament prophet within a roundel measuring 7½in (18.5cm) across.
Rather than a purely decorative cap, the mortised ‘base’ suggests this was designed as a load-bearing structural boss that acted as a ‘key-stone’, locking together the intersecting ribs of a vaulted ceiling. It is made from coarse-grained oak, that although difficult to carve, is exceedingly strong.

The title above reads 3 to 1 on Sunbeams. Measuring 5ft x 3ft 4in (1.52 x 1m), the poster is dated in the margin 1896.
It has a guide of £450-900 at the auction held by original poster specialist Antikbar in London on January 29.
