This parcel gilt musical box pictured top, decorated with a frieze of figures, is by Stuart Devlin (London 1975).

It was a special commission from Devlin, made for the family of the vendor who sold it at George Kidner in Lymington in 2005. It comes for sale at the Woolley & Wallis Silver & Objects of Vertu auction in Salisbury on January 25-26 with a guide of £3000-4000.

As the box (with a glass covered Swiss musical movement, marked Reuge, Sainte-Croix) is cased in Brazilian rosewood, the piece is sold with a Cites Article 10 certificate.

This Victorian gold locket inscribed Kildonan has a guide of £600-800 at Chorley’s in Prinknash Abbey, Gloucestershire, on January 25.

A note with the lot reads Locket made of gold from the Duke of Sutherland’s Mine at Kildonan (near Dunrobin) Sutherlandshire. Given to Louisa Blanche Howard (Mrs Cecil Foljambe) July 1869 by Charlotte Duchess of Norfolk who was daughter of the 1st Duke of Sutherland and Elizabeth Countess of Sutherland.

The Kildonan Gold Rush was a short-lived affair from 1869-70 which was ended by the Duke of Sutherland owing to a clash of interests with deer stalking.

The three-day Fine sale at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood in Exeter on January 18-20 includes a single-owner collection of naval portrait miniatures.

The 47 lots include, estimated at £1000-1500, this portrait of Captain Charles Fellowes Grice (d.1850) of the Indian Navy. He was probably painted in Calcutta, c.1820.

Pen and ink drawing by Frank Brangwyn titled Baby Brangwyn and his Aunt Julia in Bruges – estimate £200-300 in a timed online auction held by Cato Crane that ends on January 23.

This 10 x 7in (26 x 18cm) pen and ink drawing by Frank Brangwyn is titled Baby Brangwyn and his Aunt Julia in Bruges. Dated 1948, it was one of the illustrations for Brangwyn’s Pilgrimage.

It is included in a timed online auction held by Cato Crane in Liverpool that ends on January 23.

The Lyon & Turnbull Ski Sale on January 18, assembled by former Christie’s vintage poster specialists Nicolette Tomkinson and Sophie Churcher, includes just under 100 lots.

This 3ft 3in x 2ft 1in (1m x 64cm) lithographic poster c.1930 is by French illustrator Roger Broders (1883-1953) who made his name designing Art Deco travel posters for the Paris Lyon Mediteranée (PLM) railway,

Sports D’Hiver depicts stylised figures in colourful winter attire disembarking from a rail carriage at the Col de Voza on the Mont Blanc massif. It is expected to sell for £6000-8000.

Elm and wicker highback chair designed by Koloman Moser in 1902 – estimate £2000-3000 at Sworders.

This fine example of Vienna Secession furniture was bought last year in a junk shop on the south coast for just £5. The elm and wicker highback chair designed by Koloman Moser (1868-1918) in 1902 is expected to bring £2000-3000 in the January 25-26 Design auction at Sworders.

The chair, authenticated by Dr Christian Witt-Dorring, a specialist on the Vienna Secession and curator of many exhibitions, was one of a series of new designs created by Moser for the wickerwork factory of Prag-Rudniker.

Published in 1903 in the magazine Das Interieur, the following year an article devoted to modern Austrian wicker furniture appeared in the influential UK publication The Studio.

Marked for Savage & Lyman, Montreal, c.1855-60, a silver tankard awarded to British bare-knuckle prize fighter Tom Sayers in 1860 by Canadian admirers features in the January 22 Cricket and Boxing Memorabilia auction at Hansons in Etwall, Derbyshire estimated at £3000-5000.

The tankard is inscribed To Tom Sayers from a few admirers of English pluck, Montreal June 1860.

Born in Brighton in 1826, Sayers – though only 5ft 8in tall and never weighing much more than 150lbs – frequently fought much bigger men, and won. In a career which lasted from 1849-60, he lost only one of 16 bouts. He was recognised as heavyweight champion of England from 1857 until his retirement.

It is part of a collection of memorabilia relating to Johnny Douglas (1882-1930). The sellers are granddaughters of Douglas’ brother, Cecil ‘Pickles’ Douglas, a Victorian boxing referee. As well as being a talented cricketer, Johnny Douglas won a gold medal for boxing at the London Olympic Games in 1908.

Catherine Southon’s next sale at Farleigh Golf Club on February 2 includes the entire contents from the property of a deceased local gentleman who collected all manner of curious items.

This 7in (17.5cm) high Egyptian wood headrest probably dates from the 6th Dynasty period (2360-2195BC). Carved in three sections, the curved pillow is supported by a pair of slender hands carved in shallow relief. A number of similar examples are known, with another sold at Sotheby’s in July 2018.

Estimate £6000-8000.

Oak and polychrome ceiling boss dating to c.1400 - estimate £2000-3000 at Bishop & Miller on January 27.

The oak and vernacular furniture and works of art sale at Bishop & Miller in Stowmarket on January 27 includes, estimated at £2000-3000, this oak and polychrome ceiling boss.

Dating to c.1400, it is carved with an Old Testament prophet within a roundel measuring 7½in (18.5cm) across.

Rather than a purely decorative cap, the mortised ‘base’ suggests this was designed as a load-bearing structural boss that acted as a ‘key-stone’, locking together the intersecting ribs of a vaulted ceiling. It is made from coarse-grained oak, that although difficult to carve, is exceedingly strong.

This large poster for Sunbeams bicycles features a humorous Art Nouveau illustration of two ladies and a gentleman cheering as they stand on the frame and wheels of the bicycle to observe a cycling race.

The title above reads 3 to 1 on Sunbeams. Measuring 5ft x 3ft 4in (1.52 x 1m), the poster is dated in the margin 1896.

It has a guide of £450-900 at the auction held by original poster specialist Antikbar in London on January 29.

A limited-edition Omega James Bond diver watch set will go under the hammer at Fellows in Birmingham.

Number 11 of 257 sets, it comprises two Seamaster Professional wristwatches – one in stainless steel, the other in 18ct yellow gold – both contained in a special edition Globe-Trotter suitcase, marked Omega 007 Limited Edition.

The estimate in the Luxury Watch Sale on January 17 is £18,000-26,000.
