A 1963 first of Bill Badger’s Big Mistake was bid to £480 in the Norfolk rooms of TW Gaze (18% buyer’s premium), and sold for £600 was a lot that offered two works illustrated by ‘BB’. One of them was a 1957 first in original pictorial boards of his own The Long Night, but its companion was an ex-library example of a 1965 reprint of Enid Blyton’s Thirteen O’Clock and other Stories.

Sold for £1000 via thesaleroom.com in the Diss auction was a lot that brought together first-impression copies in unclipped jackets of four works by Len Deighton that were published in the 1960s.

They were The Ipcress File, a copy of Horse Under Water with its promotional and still blank crossword puzzle loosely inserted, a signed copy of Funeral in Berlin and a copy of The Billion Dollar Brain.
