The rare c.1930 Tri-ang motor caravanette floor toy was a cross between a vehicle and a doll’s house. It possessed its original furnishings and windows. Lawrences says: “Tri-ang’s early vehicles in the late 1920s were described as ‘Doll’s Motor Vans’ having an open-front cab design to create an easily accessible driver’s space that was a perfect place for a child to put a doll or small teddy bear.”

Features of the 18in (45cm) long toy include two opening ‘French window’ doors at the rear, together with a set of steps that can be moved into place when the doors are open. The chimney was missing but the electric lighting facility was in situ.

On November 16 it sold within estimate at £500 via thesaleroom.com.
