A complete collection of René Lalique’s Art Deco car mascots comes for sale at Lyon & Turnbull on April 28. The 29 different models – including some great rarities – were accumulated over 10 years by a UK collector.

Lalique produced car mascots for six years between 1925-31 with 29 recognised mascot designs.

Among the rarest is Hibou, an elusive design modelled as a wide-eyed owl preparing for flight. It was one of the last made by Lalique and was produced in clear and frosted glass in very small numbers in January 1931. This example, the first L&T Lalique specialist Joy McCall has offered for sale in 25 years, is expected to bring £30,000-50,000.

Kenner/Palitoy-made Star Wars action figure of Boba Fett complete with original blaster – estimate £800-1200 at East Bristol Auctions.

Another Star Wars May 4 offering takes place at East Bristol Auctions where the Estate of Jeremy Bulloch features. Bulloch, who died in 2020, played the bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Shown here, estimated at £800-1200, is Bullochʼs personally owned Kenner/Palitoy-made Star Wars action figure of Boba Fett complete with original blaster. The Kenner-released Boba Fett action figure was initially advertised as having a ‘rocketfiring ʼ feature, and early card backs displayed this action. However, when the figure was released, the rocket was to be found firmly seated in the jetpack.

The rocket-firing Boba Fett never made it to production and the very few surviving examples now sell for huge sums (for example, a prototype took $95,700/£76,600 at Hake’s Auctions of York, Pennsylvania, in 2019). The example offered here is a standard non-firing production figure, released probably in 1979 by Kenner or Palitoy.
