Dealer Paul Fitzsimmons.
1 How did you get your start?
I launched Marhamchurch Antiques in 1991 shortly after my father died. He was also an antiques dealer and being brought up around the furniture business it was something I wanted to be around myself.
2 One great discovery you have made?
The recent discovery of Anne Boleyn’s carved Falcon badge (pictured below), c.1532-33, from Hampton Court Palace, was something ‘great’, now that it has been accepted as from the palace. It is now on show in the Great Hall for everyone to see [see News, ATG No 2533 for more].
3 Do you travel to buy?
I used to travel extensively around the UK and Europe, but now with the internet and phone technology travel is less needed.
4 What is one thing you couldn’t do without?
I have my own collection of furniture consisting of Elizabethan Exeter items – I need them all!
5 Real ale or espresso martini?
Bottle of beer and a cup of tea.
