I bought some jewellery from an auction house in the north-west of England and as I live and work in Buckinghamshire requested the items be posted to me.

I paid my invoice promptly and noted the postage was £30. At the time I thought this was on the high side for three small jewellery items, but when I received the small Jiffy bag containing my goods, the postage label was marked at just £7.85!

I emailed to complain and enquired as to where they arrived at this figure at nearly four times the cost. The reply was it should have been £25. And they would knock off £10 from my next purchase to say sorry. Where is the cost involved in posting a Jiffy bag?

I find this type of behaviour really unacceptable. After taking commission from both vendor and buyer, they hit me on postage as well – to which they applied VAT.
