Lamport Hall, near Northampton, was the former home of Sir Charles Isham who brought back from Germany 21 terracotta garden gnomes to decorate his rockery – thus introducing them to the country in the 19th century, a collecting passion from which many have not recovered. Easter is one of organiser Antiques2Go’s busiest bank holiday fairs at the hall which runs on Sunday and Monday, April 17-18.
