Early November at Blackpool, a 10½ x 13½in (27cm x 35cm) signed oil on board was a typical work with the artist’s handwritten narrative on the back explaining the scene. In this case, she depicts a childhood scene walking with her mother, aunt and brother George through seaside resort’s Enchanted Garden where they saw two rabbits which they wanted to chase.

It came to auction from a vendor whose grandmother had been given it as a gift from the artist herself.

Estimated at £15,000-20,000 on March 10, it sold for £21,000 to a private collector originally from Lancashire. Although works by Bradley can fetch more, and a number of scenes of Blackpool have sold at auction for over double this level, the price represented a solid sum for work of this size.

The young vendor returned from honeymoon on the day of the sale and was delighted with the result, according to the auction house.
