When Ivor Turnbull founded ATG in 1971 his mission was to help auctioneers reach the widest possible audience of bidders and to provide a comprehensive listing of forthcoming auctions to help dealers and collectors buy more efficiently.

Staying true to Ivor’s mission, the Gazette team has worked, and continues to work, in partnership with auctioneers and dealers and has steadily invested in innovative ways to keep relevant. The newspaper developed from black and white newsprint pages to a vibrant colour weekly and was voted Special Interest Newspaper of the Year in 2003.

More recently, we have invested in bringing you a daily news service via the Gazette’s website and Morning Briefing newsletters along with full digital editions – including in native Android and Apple apps. The Gazette also partakes in our company’s mission to contribute to a more sustainable economy and so each issue is printed using vegetable inks on recyclable paper sourced from sustainably managed forests and is mailed in a compostable wrapper.

Innovation, investment and working in partnership with our customers – auctioneers, dealers, collectors and casual bidders – has kept the Gazette at the forefront of the industry. These values are also core to the Gazette’s publisher – Auction Technology Group – and are reflected in the group’s ongoing investment in online marketplace technology. It is this investment in our services that enables consignors – selling through the auction houses that work with us – to reach a growing global pool of bidders and achieve optimal asset values.

Our company has supported the fine art and antiques industry for the past 50 years and we are committed to supporting it and helping it evolve into the digital age over the next 50 years.

For auctioneers we will continue to provide you with more bidders to increase hammer prices, new services to reduce your costs and best in class white labels along with relevant content and bidder insights. For dealers and collectors we will bring you the widest possible range of forthcoming unique and specialised items available at auctions combined with a safe, reliable and easy-to-use search, bidding and buying experience.

Thank you for your support over the past 50 years.

We look forward to bringing you another 50 years of Antiques Trade Gazette and market-leading services from Auction Technology Group.
