This English private group of Imperial enamel, lacquer, porcelain and jades was formed through the famous London dealership Spink and Bluetts from as early as 1919 and kept within the family for three generations. Highlights of the collection were on view in Hong Kong earlier this month.

Six of the pieces in the Parry collection were included in the International Exhibition of Chinese Art, held in 1935-36 at Royal Academy of Arts.

Among them is this Qianlong mark and period red lacquer bowl and cover estimated at £100,000-150,000. The interior of the bowl and the cover both inscribed in gilt with an ode by the Qianlong emperor, dated spring 1776, which compares the vessel to a chrysanthemum bloom.
