Swann in New York on October 14 offers this author’s presentation copy of Edward Jenner’s On the Varieties and Modifications of the Vaccine Pustule, Occasioned by an Herpetic State of the Skin.
Printed in Cheltenham in 1806, it is inscribed on the title page Mr. Murray from his Friend the Author.
The recipient was probably Charles Murray (1768-1847), British solicitor and secretary of the Royal Jennerian Society (1803-1809) and member of the National Vaccine Establishment.
Bound together with other Jenner editions, the estimate is $2000-3000.
