From October 26-29 the Königstein firm will hold a massive sale highlighted by a complete copy of the richly illustrated universal chronicle Rudimentum novitiorum from 1475. Only around 40 are known in this condition and no complete copy has appeared at auction in Germany since 1951.

The Rudimentum… is the first dated Lübeck printed work and includes many ‘firsts’. As well as the first printed topographical map of the world, it also contains the first printed map of Palestine. The estimated price is £1.2m.
